Half
Moon Trail is a top-quality, family owned and
operated resort; a special blend of landscaped
gardens, great activities, and outstanding
facilities, all set on an incredibly clear lake.
With 18 cabins, we are large enough to provide
all the amenities of a larger resort, but small
enough to know everyone personally. The resort
itself is set among mature oaks and pines with
extensive lawn and meticulously landscaped
gardens; new guests are amazed with the flowers.
The lodge and cabins are fairly new or have been
recently remodeled and updated. Your resort
experience at Half Moon Trail can vary from a
quiet, more reserved, nature-focused vacation to
a more social, interactive experience. If you
choose to get involved with the many scheduled
activities, events, and amenities, your family
will become integrated with the resort community
that naturally develops throughout the course of
the week. Dave and Mary Ahrendt are the 4th
owners of Half Moon Trail which began in 1952 as
a fishing resort. Dave and Mary have owned the
resort since 1993. Throughout the course of
their life they have both been school teachers
and coached athletics. They made their living
carving birds for 12 years, with Dave carving
and Mary painting the birds. And they have spent
3 years teaching Eskimos in a remote village in
Alaska. They have 4 children, two of which, Nate
and Michaela, are still at home helping run the
resort. Sarah and Ryan (married to Liz) live and
work in the Twin Cities. As a family we love
what we do. Each year we anticipate the return
of both new and past guests, looking forward
to making their week at the lake the best
vacation they have ever had.
